When I initially reached out to Jo, I had many doubts as, I'd tried therapy before and none had quite impacted me like this. Jo's approach is good-natured and from the beginning I felt safe and at ease. From my time with Jo, I feel that I've made so much personal development, truly grasped about boundaries - all with her support and encouragement. I was given the tools that I needed, in order to understand and work on the parts of myself, which I didn't accept or love. Now I can say that I do accept and love those parts, and I'm almost curious for more parts to discover.
Sincerely, thank you. - EM
“My experience with Jo, has been transformative. As someone who prides themselves on self-reflection and evaluation, I wasn't sure how much therapy could add to my life. However, working with Jo has opened up a world of realisations. Her skill in guiding me to those hidden insights, which I couldn't reach on my own, has been invaluable. Jo's ability to ask the right questions and provide a safe space for exploration allowed me to uncover layers of my own psyche that were previously concealed. Her expertise and empathy made me feel truly understood, and it's through our sessions that I found new perspectives and solutions to longstanding issues. I can't express enough how grateful I am to Jo for helping me on this journey of self-discovery and growth. I wholeheartedly recommend Jo's services to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and their path to happiness." CK

What is Parts Work?
Parts work theory, in simple terms, is like understanding that inside each of us, there are different "parts" that make up who we are. Just like different characters in a play, each part has its own role, feelings, and way of thinking. Sometimes these parts agree, and other times they might disagree. Parts work theory helps us recognize and understand these different aspects of ourselves, so we can better manage our emotions, make decisions, and navigate life's challenges. It's like getting to know the cast of characters inside our own minds, so we can work together harmoniously.
What is Polyvagal Theory?
Polyvagal theory is like a roadmap for understanding how our bodies respond to stress and interact with the world around us. Imagine you have a "vagal nerve" that's like a built-in safety system. When things are going well and you feel safe, it's like cruising on a smooth highway. Your body is calm, and you're able to connect with others and think clearly. But when you feel threatened or stressed, it's like taking a detour onto a bumpy road. Your body might react in different ways: you might freeze up, feel anxious, or even get ready to fight or run away. Polyvagal theory helps us understand these different reactions and how they're connected to our nervous system. By learning more about how our bodies respond to stress, we can find better ways to calm down and feel safe again.
What is Trauma informed Counselling?
Trauma-informed counseling specifically focuses on understanding and addressing the effects of trauma on an individual's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It emphasizes creating a safe and supportive environment for clients who have experienced trauma, recognizing the impact of trauma on their lives, and integrating this understanding into the therapeutic approach. Trauma-informed counsellors are trained to be sensitive to the unique needs and experiences of trauma survivors, helping them to process their trauma, build coping skills, and work towards healing and recovery
